Pray! God has guided me and he will also do the same for you!
Buy Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book http://www.dslrf.org helped me a lot, answers many questions you will have in the next year. Another book which is very helpful is Breast Cancer for Dummy’s.
Do not dwell! You need to find good in what you are going through. It’s hard but it’s there. I have found much joy and happiness talking to new survivors and keeping them positive.
Make the best of each and every day! Do not feel sorry for yourself, it makes things worse. If you are down in the dumps force yourself to do something that would make you cheer up. I would go to the mall and just walk around in a daze. Sitting home, feeling bad only gives you time to think of the negative going on in your life right now.
Feel comfortable with your doctors, I love mine! (Dr. West at the Breast Care Center in Orange and Murrieta) www.breastcare.com
You can be sad but don't let the sadness take over you life, MOVE ON.
Concentrate on one step and one day at a time. Do not look to the future, you have no idea what the future has in store for you, you are just wasting energy you need to heal.
Let your family and friends help you. I had meals delivered for a month and on the first two chemo days, that was awesome! Can you imagine not cooking for over month!
Be open with your family and friends. Let them be apart of your venture, don’t shut them out and most of all don't go at this alone!
Use the internet! Study, Study, Study... Read, Read, Read. Learn every possible thing you can about breast cancer, research everything you don't understand. Learn about the drugs they want you to take, the surgeries you must go through, research all your options. Talk to others who have experienced your battle. Get as many opinions as you can... then make your own decisions, but... Consider all you have been given in your research.
